Carpet Cleaning in Grey Lynn
Grey Lynn is villas and bungalows, and a lot of them have been taken back to original floors at some point. That leaves a specific combination: rimu or matai underfoot, rugs over the top, and carpet surviving in the bedrooms and up the stairs.
Three different surfaces, three different jobs, and getting the middle one wrong is expensive.
Rugs over timber — where it usually goes wrong
A rug on a wooden floor can't be wet-cleaned where it lies. Water goes through the backing into the boards, and you get cupping, staining or a lifted finish. Older wool and hand-knotted rugs also bleed dye far more readily than fitted carpet does.
So we either clean it off the floor with the timber protected, or take it away, clean it properly and bring it back. Pick-up and delivery is free. For most Grey Lynn houses that's the easier answer — you get the room back the same day.
The carpet that's left
Where carpet survives in a villa it's the bedrooms and the stairs, and it's usually older wool. Wool cleans up beautifully and punishes over-wetting — it shrinks, and it doesn't recover.
Low-moisture method, eco-friendly products, fast drying. Rooms are normally usable the same day.
Renovations, flatmates and moving out
Grey Lynn turns over. Renovation dust, flatmates changing, tenancies ending. For end-of-tenancy work we give you a receipt you can hand straight to a landlord or property manager — which is usually what the argument is about.
What we clean in Grey Lynn homes
Fitted carpet in bedrooms, hallways and up stairs — most often older wool in villas of this age.
Rugs of every kind: wool, Persian, silk, hand-knotted and synthetic. Cleaned in place where the floor allows it, or collected and returned where it does not.
Upholstery — sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and headboards.
Water and flood damage, including carpet and underlay that has been soaked.
End-of-tenancy cleans, with a receipt for your landlord or property manager.
Common questions
Can you clean my rug where it is, on the floorboards?
Usually not, and that is deliberate. Cleaning a rug in place on timber pushes moisture through the backing into the boards underneath. Where the rug and the floor allow it we will clean on site with the timber protected. Where they do not, we collect the rug, clean it properly off site and bring it back. Collection and delivery are free.
How long before we can walk on it?
We use low-moisture methods, so most rooms are usable the same day rather than out of action overnight. Wool takes longer to dry than synthetic, and a damp Auckland winter week takes longer than a dry one. We will tell you what to expect before we start.
There is no off-street parking. Is that a problem?
No. Villa streets around Grey Lynn rarely have anywhere convenient to park and we work around it. It does not change what you are quoted.
